Interpretation of Titus Chapter 2 Verse 2

Titus 2:2 is a part of the Apostle Paul’s letter to Titus, a young pastor. Paul is instructing Titus on how to train the different age groups in the church. He encourages Titus to teach older men in the church to live a life of temperance, gravity, sobriety, soundness in faith, love, and patience. Paul encourages these older men to be examples of these virtues to the rest of the church. By living a life of temperance and self-control, they can set an example of how to live a life of faith and love. By having a sound faith, they can demonstrate to the rest of the church how to have hope in God and trust in Him despite the trials and tribulations of life. Finally, by showing patience, they can demonstrate how to be patient with each other, even in difficult situations. By living out these virtues, the older men in the church can set an example of how to live a godly life.
