Revelation Chapter 11 Verse 8

Revelation 11:8

The Bible in Revelation Chapter 11 Verse 8 says:

And their dead bodies [lie] in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

Interpretation of Revelation Chapter 11 Verse 8

In Revelation 11:8, John of Patmos describes two dead prophets lying in the street of a great city. He then reveals that this city is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt. This is a reference to the city of Jerusalem, where Jesus was crucified. The imagery of the prophets lying slain in the streets of Jerusalem serves to foreshadow the coming crucifixion of Jesus, showing that the same fate that befell the prophets could soon befall Jesus. This is a powerful reminder of the cost of sin and the consequences of rejecting the Word of God. It serves as a warning that all who fail to follow God’s will shall face judgment.
