Interpretation of Philemon Chapter 1 Verse 12

In Philemon 1:12, Paul is referring to Onesimus, a slave who ran away from his master Philemon. Paul had been teaching Onesimus about the Christian faith, and Onesimus had become a Christian. Paul is now sending Onesimus back to Philemon, and he says that he is sending him back as if he were sending his own heart. Paul is asking Philemon to forgive Onesimus and to accept him as a brother in Christ and as a beloved friend. He is also asking Philemon to extend the same mercy and grace that Onesimus has found in Christ to his runaway slave.
