Luke Chapter 11 Verse 48

Luke 11:48

The Bible in Luke Chapter 11 Verse 48 says:

So ye are witnesses and consent unto the works of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build [their tombs].

Interpretation of Luke Chapter 11 Verse 48

In Luke 11:48, Jesus is condemning the religious leaders of his time for honoring their ancestors who killed the prophets. He tells them that they are witnesses to the works of their fathers and that they are essentially complicit in their actions. He then states that although they may honor their ancestors by building tombs for them, they are essentially approving their actions and thus, the blood of the prophets is upon them.
