Interpretation of John Chapter 5 Verse 47

John 5:47 is part of a passage from the gospel of John, in which Jesus is talking to the Jewish leaders about their disbelief of him. He is asking them why they do not believe him if they do not believe the Scriptures. He is trying to point out to them that if they don’t believe the written Scriptures, how can they believe the words that he speaks. This passage is telling us that faith in Jesus must come from a belief in the Bible and in the Word of God. Jesus is asking his listeners to consider the importance of the Scriptures in their lives and to put their faith in him through the Scriptures.
