John 5:36
The Bible in John Chapter 5 Verse 36 says:
But the witness which I have is greater than [that of] John; for the works which the Father hath given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
Interpretation of John Chapter 5 Verse 36
John 5:36 is part of Jesus’s speech to the Jews in the Gospel of John. In this passage, Jesus is telling the Jews that he has a greater witness to his identity than even John the Baptist. He explains that his works, the “works which the Father hath given me to accomplish”, bear witness of him and prove that the Father has sent him. By saying this, Jesus is emphasizing his divine mission and the authority he has been given by God. He is also making a clear distinction between himself and John, since John’s witness of Jesus was limited and only lasted for a short time. Jesus, however, provides a greater witness that will last for eternity.
