Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 9 Verse 13

Hebrews 9:13 speaks of the ritual of atonement that was practiced in the Old Testament. The blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer were used to sprinkle those who were considered unclean, thus sanctifying them and making them ceremonially clean in the eyes of the law. This ritual was symbolic of the true atonement to come through the death of Jesus, whose blood was shed for the forgiveness of sins. The passage is an illustration of how God’s grace and mercy is extended beyond the boundaries of the law, and how Jesus’ sacrifice was ultimately the only way for us to be made right with God.
