Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 7 Verse 5

Hebrews 7:5 speaks of a commandment from God that the Levitical priests have to take tithes from the people of Israel. The tithe is to be taken from the people’s own brothers, even though these people are descended from Abraham. This is a reminder of the covenant between God and Abraham, and that God is faithful to keep his promises. The taking of tithes from the people is a sign of their dedication to the Lord and their obedience to his laws.
