Hebrews 7:4
The Bible in Hebrews Chapter 7 Verse 4 says:
Now consider how great this man was, unto whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the chief spoils.
Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 7 Verse 4
Hebrews 7:4 speaks of the great faith of Abraham, the patriarch, in God. Abraham was asked by God to give a tenth of the spoils of battle to Melchizedek, a priest of the Most High God. Abraham obeyed without hesitation and gave a tenth of the chief spoils of his victory. This act of obedience and faith was an example to all of God’s people. It showed that Abraham trusted in the Lord and was willing to obey His commands, no matter the cost. The writer of Hebrews emphasizes this example by saying that the greatness of Abraham was shown by his willingness to give a tenth of the spoils. This passage reminds us of the importance of obedience and faith in God. May we all strive to show the same faith and obedience that Abraham demonstrated.
