Hebrews 7:23
The Bible in Hebrews Chapter 7 Verse 23 says:
And they indeed have been made priests many in number, because that by death they are hindered from continuing:
Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 7 Verse 23
Hebrews 7:23 speaks of the priesthood of the Old Covenant, which was made up of numerous priests. The passage is a reminder of the transitory nature of the priesthood, as death prevents any one priest from continuing in office. This is contrasted with the priesthood of Jesus, which is not dependent on any human life but instead is “unchangeable” and “endures forever” (Hebrews 7:24). The passage encourages readers to trust in Jesus as their Priest, which will bring them eternal salvation.
