Hebrews 7:14
The Bible in Hebrews Chapter 7 Verse 14 says:
For it is evident that our Lord hath sprung out of Judah; as to which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priests.
Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 7 Verse 14
In Hebrews 7:14, the writer is making the point that Jesus Christ, our Lord, is from the tribe of Judah. The writer of Hebrews is quoting from Moses, who did not mention priests from the tribe of Judah. This is significant because the priests of the Old Testament were from the tribe of Levi. Jesus, however, came from the tribe of Judah, thus making Him the perfect High Priest who can save all those who come to Him. By doing so, Jesus has fulfilled the Law of Moses, which had required priests from the tribe of Levi. Jesus’s role as High Priest is a fulfillment of God’s promise made to Abraham, which was that his descendants would be a blessing to all nations.
