The Bible in Hebrews Chapter 4 Verse 8 says:

For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.

Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 4 Verse 8

In the Book of Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 8, the author speaks of the promise of a rest that God made to the Israelites in the days of Joshua. The Israelites were promised rest if they followed the Lord’s commands, but that did not happen. Despite Joshua’s best efforts, the Israelites did not enter into a promised rest. The author states that if Joshua had been able to bring the Israelites into the promised rest, then God would not have spoken of another day in the future when true rest would come. This other day is a reference to a time when all of the people of God will find true rest in the presence of God. This verse is a reminder that even when our efforts fail and we are unable to find rest, God is still faithful to keep His promises and will provide a rest for His people in the future.
