Hebrews Chapter 13 Verse 14

Hebrews 13:14

The Bible in Hebrews Chapter 13 Verse 14 says:

For we have not here an abiding city, but we seek after [the city] which is to come.

Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 13 Verse 14

Hebrews 13:14 encourages believers to keep their eyes fixed on the heavenly city and not on the earthly one. Christians are called to live in this world, but not to be of it. We should not be overly attached to this world’s goods and pleasures, for they are fleeting and transitory. Instead, we should seek and pursue the eternal city that is to come, the heavenly Jerusalem. Our lives should be characterized by a longing for the city of God and a desire to be with Him. Ultimately, we should remember that our true home is in heaven, and that is where we should be placing our ultimate hope and trust.
