Galatians 4:31
The Bible in Galatians Chapter 4 Verse 31 says:
Wherefore, brethren, we are not children of a handmaid, but of the freewoman.
Interpretation of Galatians Chapter 4 Verse 31
In Galatians 4:31, Paul is emphasizing the freedom believers have through faith in Christ. He is reminding the Galatians of where they come from and who they really are. The “handmaid” Paul speaks of is referring to the Old Testament law which was a tutor and a guardian leading to Christ. The “freewoman” Paul is referring to is the grace of God in Christ and the new freedom believers have. Paul is urging believers to not focus on trying to perfectly follow the law, but to focus on their relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. In essence, Paul is saying that they should not be living as slaves to the law, but as children of the freewoman through faith in Jesus.
