Galatians 4:24
The Bible in Galatians Chapter 4 Verse 24 says:
Which things contain an allegory: for these [women] are two covenants; one from mount Sinai, bearing children unto bondage, which is Hagar.
Interpretation of Galatians Chapter 4 Verse 24
In Galatians 4:24, Paul uses an allegory to explain the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. He compares Hagar, the slave girl given to Abraham by Sarah, to Mount Sinai and the Old Covenant. Hagar was sent away with her son Ishmael and was seen as a symbol of the Old Covenant that brought bondage to the Israelites. Paul then compares Sarah, Abraham’s wife, to the New Covenant. Sarah was blessed with a son, Isaac, and was seen as a sign of the New Covenant, which offered freedom and hope to the people of God. Paul is saying that the two covenants were not the same, and that the New Covenant was a much better alternative.
