Ephesians 4:8
The Bible in Ephesians Chapter 4 Verse 8 says:
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, And gave gifts unto men.
Interpretation of Ephesians Chapter 4 Verse 8
In Ephesians 4:8, the Apostle Paul quotes from Psalm 68:18 and applies it to Jesus. He is referring to Jesus’ ascension into Heaven, and how Jesus conquered the powers of death and sin. He then gives spiritual gifts to those who believe in him, namely, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. These gifts are given to build up the Church and help them grow in the knowledge and understanding of God. The gifts are also given to equip believers to serve and glorify God. Ultimately, these gifts are meant to bring all believers into unity with one another and with God.
