let no man beguile you in any wise: for [it will not be,] except the falling away come first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,

Interpretation of 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2 Verse 3

In 2 Thessalonians 2:3, Paul is cautioning the believers in Thessalonica not to be deceived by anyone who claims that the Day of the Lord has come. He explains that before the Day of the Lord can come, two events must take place: the “falling away” (or apostasy) and the revelation of the “man of sin” (or the Antichrist). The “man of sin” is also referred to as the “son of perdition” because of his wickedness and the destruction he will cause. Paul is warning the believers to remain vigilant and to not be deceived by anyone who claims that the Day of the Lord has already come.
