Wherefore I beseech you to confirm [your] love toward him.

Interpretation of 2 Corinthians Chapter 2 Verse 8

In 2 Corinthians 2:8, the Apostle Paul is writing to the church of Corinth and urging them to reaffirm their love for a fellow believer who had previously been disciplined. Paul wants the church to show this person their love and forgiveness and to not be swayed by any ill-will they may still hold toward him. Paul wants the church to demonstrate their love and compassion by accepting the person back into fellowship and restoring the relationship. He reminds them that the Lord’s love and forgiveness should be extended to all, and that the Lord will work in this situation for good.
