The Bible in 1 Peter Chapter 1 Verse 18 says:
knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers;
Interpretation of 1 Peter Chapter 1 Verse 18
In 1 Peter 1:18, the Apostle Peter encourages Christians to remember that their lives have been redeemed by God, not with material things like silver and gold, but from their former lives of futility, which had been passed down from their ancestors. The redemption and hope that comes from following Christ is far more valuable than any earthly riches. As Christians, we can be confident that we have been freed from our former sin and that our lives are being transformed for the better.
