James 3:3
The Bible in James Chapter 3 Verse 3 says:
Now if we put the horses’ bridles into their mouths that they may obey us, we turn about their whole body also.
Interpretation of James Chapter 3 Verse 3
James 3:3 is a metaphor for controlling one’s tongue. The bridle is a metaphor for controlling one’s speech and the horse is a metaphor for the human tongue. Just as a horse can be easily steered by the direction of its bridle, so too can a person’s words be guided by controlling their tongue. This verse is a reminder that words have power and so it is important to be mindful of what we say in order to be wise and good stewards of our words.
