Hebrews 12:9
The Bible in Hebrews Chapter 12 Verse 9 says:
Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 12 Verse 9
Hebrews 12:9 encourages the readers to be in subjection to God, rather than to the fathers of our flesh. The writer encourages readers to remember how we gave our earthly fathers reverence, and to be even more in subjection to the Father of spirits, who promises us life when we turn and obey Him. The writer is saying that if we are willing to give reverence to our earthly fathers, then we should be even more willing to be obedient to God, who offers us eternal life.
