For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 10 Verse 14

Hebrews 10:14 is part of a larger passage in which the author of Hebrews is discussing the superiority of the New Covenant established by Jesus Christ to the Old Covenant established by Moses. The author is encouraging the readers to hold fast to their faith, for the perfect one-time offering of Jesus on the cross has perfected them for all eternity. The offering of Jesus on the cross was sufficient for all believers to be sanctified, or made holy and acceptable to God. This offering is a guarantee of their salvation and a promise of eternal life. In this way, Jesus has fulfilled the Old Covenant and made a New Covenant with His people, a covenant of grace and mercy.
