Hebrews Chapter 8 Verse 3

Hebrews 8:3

The Bible in Hebrews Chapter 8 Verse 3 says:

For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is necessary that this [high priest] also have somewhat to offer.

Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 8 Verse 3

Hebrews 8:3 speaks of the need for a High Priest to offer gifts and sacrifices to God in order to make atonement for the sins of God’s people. The High Priest’s offering was necessary in order to fulfill the requirements of the Law of Moses and provide a way for the people to be forgiven and reconciled to God. The High Priest was the mediator between God and humanity, and his offerings symbolized the sacrificial death of Jesus which would be necessary in order to provide a permanent atonement for sin. By offering His perfect sacrifice, Jesus fulfilled the need for a High Priest and brought about a “better covenant” with God.
