Hebrews 7:3
The Bible in Hebrews Chapter 7 Verse 3 says:
without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like unto the Son of God), abideth a priest continually.
Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 7 Verse 3
In Hebrews 7:3, the writer is making a comparison between Jesus and Melchizedek, a mysterious priest who appears in the Bible in Genesis 14:18-20. This verse is saying that, unlike ordinary priests, Melchizedek had no known ancestor, no known beginning or end of life, and was therefore ‘made like unto the Son of God’. The writer is implying that, just as Melchizedek was a priest continually, so too Jesus is a priest forever. The idea being that Jesus was a priest in the same way that Melchizedek was, without having to be ordained or set apart, but simply because of who he is.
