Interpretation of Hebrews Chapter 7 Verse 2
Hebrews 7:2 speaks of Melchizedek, a mysterious figure who is mentioned in the book of Genesis. Melchizedek was the king of Salem, which is thought to be Jerusalem, and was also known as “King of Righteousness” and “King of Peace”. Abraham, the father of the Jewish people, paid a tenth of his possessions to Melchizedek in recognition of him being king. This passage teaches us that it is important to honor and respect those in authority over us.
