Interpretation of Philemon Chapter 1 Verse 1

Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, his brother in the faith, send greetings to Philemon, their beloved and fellow worker in the Lord. They are writing to him to ask him to forgive and accept Onesimus, a runaway slave. Philemon is asked to take Onesimus back, not as a slave, but as a beloved brother in Christ. Paul then reminds Philemon of his own love and faith, and encourages him to do the same for Onesimus. The letter ends with Paul asking Philemon to prepare a guest room, as Paul hopes to be able to visit soon.
