The Bible in 1 Timothy Chapter 1 Verse 1 says:

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour, and Christ Jesus our hope;

Interpretation of 1 Timothy Chapter 1 Verse 1

The opening verse of the first letter of Paul to Timothy begins with Paul introducing himself as an apostle of Jesus Christ. He states that he was chosen according to the commandment of God, who is also referred to as Saviour, and Jesus Christ, who is the source of hope. Paul is writing this letter to Timothy, a man he had appointed to serve in the church in Ephesus. The letter mainly focuses on teaching Timothy how to lead the church in a godly manner. Paul is reminding Timothy of his authority as an apostle as well as of the importance of living according to God’s commands.
