for indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow upon sorrow.

Interpretation of Philippians Chapter 2 Verse 27

In Philippians 2:27, Paul recounts an incident in which one of the members of the church was sick and nearly died, but God had mercy on him and on Paul as well. Paul does not want to experience more sorrow on top of this sorrow. This is an example of Paul’s deep care and concern for the people of the church, and his faith in God’s mercy and grace.
