Interpretation of Galatians Chapter 5 Verse 19

Galatians 5:19 is part of a larger passage in which Paul is warning the Galatians against the lawlessness of their culture. He lists a range of works of the flesh, which are behaviors that are contrary to the teachings of the gospel. These works include fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, and revelings. Paul warns that those who practice these works of the flesh will not inherit the kingdom of God. He encourages them instead to live in the Spirit and to walk in the Spirit, bearing the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.
