The Bible in Galatians Chapter 4 Verse 30 says:
Howbeit what saith the scripture? Cast out the handmaid and her son: for the son of the handmaid shall not inherit with the son of the freewoman.
Interpretation of Galatians Chapter 4 Verse 30
This passage from Galatians is a reference to a story found in the Old Testament book of Genesis. In the story, Abraham had two sons—Ishmael, born to Sarah’s handmaid Hagar, and Isaac, born to Sarah herself. When Sarah became jealous of Hagar’s influence in Abraham’s household, she demanded that Abraham send Hagar and Ishmael away, which he did. In this passage from Galatians, the author is using this story to illustrate a spiritual truth: that those who are not born of the free woman (Christians) cannot share in the inheritance of those who are (non-Christians). Those who are “in Christ” receive the true inheritance of God’s promises, while those who are not are excluded.
