Galatians 2:11
The Bible in Galatians Chapter 2 Verse 11 says:
But when Cephas came to Antioch, I resisted him to the face, because he stood condemned.
Interpretation of Galatians Chapter 2 Verse 11
In Galatians 2:11, Paul recounts a story of when he encountered Cephas, also known as Peter, at the church in Antioch. Paul opposed Peter when Peter was advocating for the Gentiles to follow Jewish customs of circumcision. Paul argued that such a practice was unnecessary for Gentiles to be saved and should not be a requirement for them to become followers of Christ. Paul refused to accept Peter’s opinion and, instead, stood firm in his convictions that the Gentiles should not be burdened with such a requirement. Paul’s firm stance on the matter eventually led to a compromise between him and Peter, with the result being that the Gentiles could be saved without the need for circumcision.
