Interpretation of 2 Corinthians Chapter 8 Verse 13

In this passage from 2 Corinthians 8, the Apostle Paul is speaking to the believers in the church at Corinth and encouraging them to participate in the collection he was organizing for the impoverished believers in Jerusalem. He emphasizes that his intent is not to ease the burden of the givers and to burden the recipients, but rather, that all should be even, with each contributing according to their ability and each receiving according to their need. He is essentially saying that the collection should not be an opportunity for the affluent to show off their generosity at the expense of the less fortunate.
