Interpretation of 2 Corinthians Chapter 8 Verse 2

In 2 Corinthians 8:2, the apostle Paul is praising the generosity of the believers in Macedonia; despite their poverty, they have joyfully given a generous offering for the benefit of the believers in Jerusalem. Paul acknowledges the suffering they have experienced and their deep poverty, yet they have been so generous in their giving that it has brought them great wealth. Paul is encouraging the Corinthians to imitate the example of the Macedonians, who have given out of their need and not their abundance.
