What fruit then had ye at that time in the things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
Interpretation of Romans Chapter 6 Verse 21
In Romans 6:21, Paul is warning the Roman believers about the consequences of their past lifestyles before they were saved. He is asking what kind of fruit did they produce when they were in their pre-Christian state? The answer, of course, is nothing but death and destruction. Paul is reminding them that the end of their old way of life inevitably leads to death, both spiritually and physically. He encourages them to live a new life in Christ, as this will produce a much better outcome, one of eternal life and joy.
